What was Manchester really like in the 1970s? Here Chris Makepeace shows up the reality of day-to-day life in the city during a period when much of the Victorian city was swept away in a whirlwind of redevelopment and modernisation. Featured here along with street scenes of the city centre and suburbs are images of people, buildings, transport, events and a number of sites which have changed beyond recognition. Most of the photographs included in this book were taken by the author and have never been published before. They are supplemented by posters and adverts to capture the true flavour of the decade.
